'65 Mustang V8 Fuel Filter Replacement Interval
« on: September 23, 2015, 04:41:18 PM »
Hi All,

I did a search and couldn't find anything on this topic.  How often do you change your fuel filter?  I know originally the owner's manual called for fuel filter changes at intervals of 36,000 miles.  However, for collector cars obviously there are other values at play.

#1 - They aren't driven daily

#2 - Today's fuels are much cleaner than the fuels refined in the 60's

#3 - Today's fuels have a lot more detergents - do these breakdown the filters over time?

So having said that I'm looking for opinions.  How often do you change your fuel filter?  For the record my car has the correct canister style fuel filter that is screwed into fuel pump.  I only mention this to see if folks treat the '66 and later screw in at the carburetor style of filter differently.

Regards,

Ron

How about when you change the oil?
