1968 instrument cluster markings
« on: August 23, 2015, 10:21:59 AM »
Posting a few photos of the various markings and labels from the back of my instrument cluster. I haven't found any good references online, so I thought these might be a helpful to someone.

Cluster date: located on upper right (as viewed from back) behind oil pressure gauge. Very faint, I couldn't read it by eye, so I enlisted Photoshop to enhance it. Date is Jan 18, 1968. Actual build date for this car was Feb 7, 1968 in San Jose.

Part number label: not much to add.

"310" label: discussed in another post. Likely an assembler's number.

"ER" mark & green slash: My guess is these are inspection marks. The green slash for "accept" and ER is the inspector. No idea if they would be from the manufacturer's inspection, Ford's receiving inspection, or possibly both. If I am wrong, please post a correction and I will update accordingly. Located in lower left between speedo & temp gauge.

"FoMoCo" & part number: sef-explanatory. The "DEMCO" mark can be seen to the far right in this photo.

"DEMCO": Manufacturer. Could Be Demco Electronics in Bristol, IN. They used to make CB radios. Purely a guess.
