67 S code GTA - Leaf springs markings
« on: August 01, 2015, 02:56:06 AM »
Hi. The attached photos are of my 67 fastback gta 390 San Jose leaf springs.
Do they look genuine to the car by the numbers and are the two paint stripes correct for the car?
Cheers

That part number is not listed in the January 1967 MPC.  That said, the MPC has not been reliable at all when it comes to springs.  My GTA "AE" are not in there either.  Sorry but I can't help you on this one, but I'm sure that someone else can and will.

They are the same springs that are in my 1968 390GT (C7ZA- AS). My original paint stripes were on the long spring near the rear shackle eyelet one orange, one white.

180 would be the julian date... see if that matches the build date of your car.

For clarification  in case you are not familiar with Julian date -180 = 180th day of the year.

Changed the header to better reflect the question.

Springs for a 67 would normally be marked where yours are

And thanks allot fo posting the stamped engineering number since (on rear spring application) just the make, model, year and other details don't always get us an match

With that said - those are the same springs and markings I've got documented on other similar 67 390 GT suspension cars Can't confirm an exact match (according to Ford) since things like body style, AC, trans and all that can affect the springs placed on the car but I really doubt that someone found a match this close and put it on your car as a replacement just by chance

Thanks for the replys.
I'm just surprised that the springs weren't rusted, aren't they a bare metal finish from factory?

They are slightly protected with oil.

Guessing this is a dry climate or low mileage car?

I live down under but bought the car from Toronto Canada.
Ive sandblasted the undercarriage and not a spot of rust or patch work.
