Heater Box Differences
« on: July 22, 2015, 12:56:28 PM »
Does anyone know what the bracket is for in the top pic?
Been a while since disassembly, I bought a good used heater box but that one doesn't have the bracket, my original did.
Have also posted picks of the stamping to perhaps determine plant/manufacturer.
Original box seems lighter in appearance but perhaps is dulled with age/use.

Dom,
That bracket is supposed to support the heater box with a 14-10 X 1 1/4 hex sheet metal screw (42159-S8) to a nut clip (45149-S8) on a bracket welded to and under the dash.

Jim, as usual your detailed information is so valuable, if I can't find that hex screw (in my box of misc) I'll let you know as you probably have one in the correct finish ready to go ;)
Brian, really appreciate the pic, nothing explains it better!
I can't leave out Jeff, thanks for the confirming.

I'd have no chance without you guys and your knowledge, many thanks :)
