Thx for the responses. It is a Dearborn car. It appears to be an original convertible. Aprons also seem original too. Are there any other VIN numbers on the frame or body panels?
Welcome to the site. There are three "permanent" VIN locations under the hood, the visible one on the LH side apron; and two, one on each fender, both hidden by the fenders on the top of the apron close to the forward edge of the hood hinges. The VIN on the door data plate can be missing or replaced by the door replacement and if present, is "reliable" if it matches - maybe. There is a screwed on (sometimes spot welded) Buck Tag on Metuchen cars with the VIN. The VIN is obviously on the registration, but if you are lucky, you might find the original warranty card usually in the glove box, or a window sticker, or an invoice. I've seen a few mistakes made on VINs, so it happens. The engine VIN applies to "K" code HP cars only for your year. That's all that there is.
