I had my molding polished, but they polished the whole thing.  So now I need to correct the center area.  I never noticed it to be paint, but doing some reading, now I'm questioning that reason of thought.  Can someone confirm for me?

Thank you,

The rest of the surface (unpainted areas) weren't  polished originally ;)

You may have to rough up the surface to get the paint to stick.

Thanks guys, for all the help.

Jim, I'll probably hit it lightly and from a distance with aluminum oxide in the sandblast cabinet (masking off the shiny part  :) )
