Dearborn - PAINT OK stamp
« on: June 08, 2015, 12:10:47 PM »
Bought some parts over the weekend and found one original paint part with the "Paint OK" stamp on it. I gentle wiped it and it appears to be "PAINT OK 203"?? This is a headlight bezel, ofcourse not sure what plant it came from. The bezel is for a 64-66. Maybe this could be added to the collection of stampings for future reference on the site/topic? Enjoy.

What you found it commonly referred to as a "baseball diamond" inspector stamps used at Dearborn during 64-66 and for paint inspection, in 68 for a short period of time. Believe there were two sizes and they were used for at least four different inspections that I've seen.  The number at the bottom is the inspectors number assigned to that specific inspector for accountability purposes.

Thanks, seems like the headlight bezels were each stamped as well as stamps around the hood/fenders/cowl. Its amazing to see that these survived over the last fifty years!

They came with a few different numbers.  I had some of these stamps made up a few years ago for my '65..  I have yet to use them though.. I haven't gotten to that stage yet..
