fixation screws latch folddown seat
« on: May 13, 2015, 08:53:37 AM »
Hello,

Can somebody confirm that these screws (picture in attachment) are the correct ones for the fixation of the latch for folddown seat on a fastback?
In the Osborn manual it says : '55590-S2' but I don't know what it stands for, or look like.
Thanks for the help.
Regards,

Jerone,
If you go to the Library Section of this forum and open the post titled "Mustang Hardware Spreadsheet 67-68", open spreadsheet titled "MHW67-68PN01", scroll down on the left hand column, "Part Number" to the part number you need, you will find a description of the part including the reference document where it came from. File "MHW67-68AP01" lists the hardware by application. Give it a try.

Don't believe you will find that they used screws in those holes - they didn't other years.   Looks like the same hex headed small bolts heat treated - dark finish for this years and the earlier ones

+1 the dark hex head matches what I've seen, had, and have.

Thanks for your answers.
I must admit that I am not a specialist in screws  ???...
Is there a sort of tutorial where someone explains what what is?
Those screws are black, so that is correct.
But hex head?
Sorry for my ignorance....

AMK's website is a great place to start. The intro section to their catalog explains nomenclature for various types of fastener features and how to measure them:

Their site also has photos for nearly every fastener they carry. To follow your reference, you can see a photo of 55590-S2 as specified in the assembly manual. I don't see a search feature on their website (someone correct me if I missed it), but you can use Google to search their site for a specific OEM (e.g. Ford) part number.

65 example showing the head and intergrated washer from a better angle. The rest of the shape is a fine thread small dia bolt
