Using SPI epoxy Red Primer and 69 Floor Pan Replacement

I know this topic has been discussed often, but I am about to install a full dynocore floor pan after replacing tq boxes frame rails and toe board. My question is I plan to use the SPI on the inside, but would you all suggest that I use it underneath as well... Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Tell us again when and where your car was built and we can help you from there. Without the info we would just be guessing ;)

Figure we can change the title of this thread then since what you've posted do far doesn't describe your request

Sure you have already read here on the site that those floors (if installed on 69 or 70s unless they have changed)  don't look like the originals. SO you might want to think about correcting them before you start spraying.  ::)

Thanks, sorry I have a 69 Mach 1 428 CJ built in Dearborn. It is a Jan 69 built car. As far as not being correct are you referring to the drivers side floor stamping? Is there any other concerns? Also I was told u can brush the SPI on but I would think that would look terrible... Thanks for any pointers.

The floor plan plug hole openings are a easy tip off too if not attended to.

Unless you have ant remaining original floor color left on the panels (floor section) you removed your best bet IMHO is to reproduce the color using any of the following previous threads to guide you to a choice.

In accurate floor stamping at the front of the reproduction is on both sides of the front floor pan if your installing the one piece unit.  Bob mentioned the floor drains also above. Not sure how many brackets have to be swapped and rewelded from the original panels but always something to check for and measure twice before attaching

Thanks for the info, I read on line that the front drivers side floor board area was incorrect, but was unaware there was other incorrect areas. Pretty frustrating, makes no sense why they wouldn't make a correct piece, but I guess the tooling stamps aren't worth the pay off. I am trying to stay as original as possible however, I don't have to have it 100% perfect because I'll never sell it. So is it that noticable?

Hear that allot then 3-5 years later they call wanting to know what their car is worth. Plans change and even if you never sell it it will be sold one day  ::)

Only for those that would look. Consider how many people read the magazine articles, forum pages and blogs (from here to the end of days) that mention the details or frame is as "how to tell if someone has swapped out the original floor pans for less that prefect repos"

Gotcha Jeff, so do they make a floor pan aftermarket that is 100%? I always thought Dynacorn was about the best stuff aftermarket..ill go do some more reading...

Few things in the after market are 100% correct compared to assemblyline .Many are 100% compared to later service replacements ;) but that is getting off track. Dynacorn does make many good items but that does not to mean endorse them as 100%. You just have to do a lot of work to make them look like assemblyine. You have to do a lot less work on the dynacorn compared to other lesser quality brands IMO. Most don't care for that close of detail and just want to get their driver back on the road. Many here aspire to a higher standard where those details matter.  To save your reading time ,ether cut out original  sheetmetal or modify the Dynacorn. As Special Ed Meyer likes to say 'That's just the way it is". :)

+1 to Bob's response. No there are no 100% correct floors for your car. Nothing (rarely) is that easy   ::)

All those links in Reply #4 are for that reason.  When it comes to sound deadener  do a search and you'll find those topics.  If they don't cover enough, wrong year or plant  then ask and we can cover it. Lots of writing and pictures and the less we need to repeat the easier it is to find threads in the future for others. ;)
