1969 Cobra Jet Shaker Air Cleaner lid decal
« on: October 08, 2024, 12:05:03 AM »
Wanted to see if anyone has photos or information on the original 1969 shaker air cleaner lid.  Trying to see if originals really had a sticker like in the photo here.... which is the same sticker you would see a non shaker GT500 Shelby.  I assume they did but curious what others have seen or think.

Jim....the air cleaner lid looks black in the photo....is that right or just lighting?  I would think an original would be blue.

Looks black or dull chrome . Regardless agree that you would think it was blue like was more typical that I have come across survivor. Maybe another possibility is that some applications had no sticker. I have found more original with no sticker then with. Don't ask what stickers they were when there was one because I didn't care. :D   Because of my interest if it didn't have the typical ram air sticker it got one in short order . ;)  FYI for others reading the ram air lid is the same size and shape as the 65-67 Hipo air cleaner although those were always chrome.

Yes, black.  With two added bolts under the gold washers because at some point in the past the wing nut came loose, rattled around in the housing and eventually got swallowed by the engine.   ::)

Ok.....so then I would say that air cleaner lid has nothing to do with being unrestored.  Correct?

I didn't consider two drilled holes made it restored, but if it is well known it should be blue and not black, then yes.  Not unrestored.
