68 C code exhaust manifold bolts and engine lifting brackets
« on: March 30, 2015, 10:13:07 AM »
Anyone got a photos showing how these are located?

Location of the studded end bolts, which I am assuming attach the lifting lugs.  And if the lifting lug curve bends inwards towards the carb, which would seem likely, or out...  May San Jose build if it matters....

What lifting brackets?

If your referring to the "loops" often discussed about on other engines attached to the exhaust manifold bolts and used for installing the engines at the plant - they were not used on this application IMHO

Might be a running change but have no documentation showing that.

Check out the San Jose engine installation pictures for 68 in the Library for a picture of that engine being installed ;)

So items like this were not on the '68 289s?  Had a couple loose ones provioded with a C code car (Dec 67 San Jose) and thought they were from it, maybe not...

They are easy to get to unlike BB ones and directed to be taken off but just other things we have seen examples where they were not.

Think its somewhat hard to dismiss an assembly line pictures at the same plant as the car that shows the installation of the same motor with no brackets and the workers using a different method of installing the engine

Not dismissing the picture, was just asking if they were used.   Apparently not, but a bit unclear from the last two posts...

Bob's comment "They are easy to get to unlike BB ones and directed to be taken off but just other things we have seen examples where they were not. "  would seem to indicate they were used and supposed to be removed, but in some cases left on.

Bob might have been making a more general comment covering many or other plants and years rather than specifics here. Think I also checked my pictures for 68 San Jose also but will check them again

have had many like the ones you posted ( of the ebay ad)  just can't say that they came from a 68. In fact I would beat that they didn't since I've only owned a couple of 68's compared to all the other years that have passed through
