Oct 64 San Jose Details
« on: February 24, 2015, 01:41:07 AM »
Moderator Note: This thread is an offshoot from an earlier thread that focused on a unrestored Oct 64 San Jose car

Sorry to revive this thread but Jeff, I can't tell from the pics but do you remember if the hood hinges were black or phosphate on this car?  I know it was discussed in another thread that the change over was sometime in the fall of 64 for SJ.

No problem - only seen P & O on hood hinges on Oct built cars and this one was the same

This is interesting to me, as my car is a Oct 64 SJ car as well.  My under car primer is red. Also interesting to see the pinch weld black out, as I need to replicate on my car soon...

My underside is red from front to fire wall (with engine compartment black overspray), then slop black from firewall back.  Mid Oct SJ fastback.  May be getting off topic here...

OK split this discussion from the earlier one that was more about a specific car and example

This is interesting to me, as my car is a Oct 64 SJ car as well.  My under car primer is red. Also interesting to see the pinch weld black out, as I need to replicate on my car soon...

Though your car has a door tag showing an October date it could have been built before October or early in the month before the change - assuming that its an unrestored car :) Remember that the door tag date is just a guess

Pinch weld and overspray from that application would be the same any other San Jose car. Will try and post a few shots

also is the horn bracket natural or black?  I did mine natural originally but most i see are black...

Have a picture?  Guessing that you have two horns and they are mounted on the radiator support like others from that period. Bracket would be pait of the horn which was painted as a unit
