68 center console value
« on: February 04, 2015, 11:56:34 AM »
Hi folks! What would the value of a -68 manual center console be? The bottom piece has no cracks or scratches in the plastic, and the lamp lenses and storage door is in good shape. Original wiring harness with Fomoco printed on wires. Top pad without tear or cuts in the vinyl. The shifter hole is cut on the right side, but this is not noticeable when top plate is in place. Radio pad is in good condition too.
Items missing are: top plate, seatbelt cups (don't know if they are separate or part of the top plate) and the ashtray receptacle.

Really? No one have any suggestions? From all the kind of crap I've seen on ebay at varying prices i think $450-$480 would be a good price. Add a top plate I saw at $155 and you have a great looking and concours correct console. But I'm no expert, that's why I'm asking you guys. At least I know that I would be happy to pick up a -67 console for that price! Thanx!

I have bought and sold several 67 consoles over the last couple years, not 68's but the values should come in around the same. It's a wild guess where it would sell but your estimate is about right, maybe slightly high if it were to be auctioned.

Tax refund season tells me it is a good time to try and list it with a somewhat low starting price & hope for the best. I've seen what i thought as junk sell for +$600 and I've had near perfect, complete ones sell for only like $400

Recently sold a complete nice automatic for 400 and it took 5 forums and a week to move
Recently sold a complete VERY nice 4 speed for 800 and it took 4 hrs.

Without the top plate your console is worth 250-300

Remember when selling on Ebay the sellers net is around 28% less than the final sale price. I would have interest but not in the 4's

Hope that helps

Thanx for your answers! I'm from Finland and as some of you may know, things/prices are a little different here. I'm in no hurry to get rid of the pieces, so I rather set the price at the high end to make sure someone who really needs it gets it, as these things don't lie around the ditches here! Thanx again, and my best regards!

The radio pad is probably the most valuable part.  Most have been cut to accommodate aftermarket radios.  Differing from the 67's, that console isn't manufactured aftermarket.  I'd love to have it!  Somebody will pay top dollar for it...

You'd probably do best selling each piece individually since the top plate is missing.  The manual trans top pad is probably the most valuable piece, but not sure this year console is in high demand.  They're not quite as nice as the '67 style.

If it was mine, I would list each piece on ebay separately, even the wiring.  Will be more trouble, but you'll most likely net the highest $$.
