So I have been fine tuning my 64 1/2 coupe, (260 v8 - 2v carb), checking timing and resetting the carb mixtures, etc. to get it just right.. When I noticed that if you were to give a yank on the metal vaccum line between the carb and distributor, that I believe it would simply pull out of either end (distr. or carb fitting). Is this normal or should there be a flared end to each so it cannot come loose, off, or leak. I am wondering if the carb could be sucking air around this metal line or fitting and losing some vaccum to advance the distributor??? I would hate to check by spraying carb cleaner around my nice intake/spacer/etc. ;) Thanks for a reply! Oh, and BTW this is an old pic, I removed the FRONT sticker on the air cleaner (cause it was probably not correct)! ;D

There should be a flare fitting on the end of the light that tightens when the out nut is tightened.
What's the scheduled build date of your car, only heard of very late 64.5 having the 260 decal.

This of ourse is a repro line . When I tighten the ends it still feels as though it could be pulled out? My car is a June 30th build , Dearborn car.

Tightening is supposed to crimp the end to keep the tube attached. Put the carb end in the distributor adapter and tighten to crimp the tube end as the adapter is steel as opposed to the cast aluminum on the carburetor. the install correctly. Less likely to damage the carb base.
