Title: What grease will stick at the door hinges?
Post by: MWM on April 29, 2013, 10:55:52 AM
Seems like a couple of weeks ago I had to lube my hinges, now they are dry again. This is a fresh rebuild with new roller, etc. What works best to keep the hinges greased?
Thanks!

For the hinges white lithium but don't go crazy ;)  is my choice

Once sprayed work the door back and forth to move the product into all the crevices

And the choice of the factory as the preinspection sheets seem to indicate.

I think the white lithium dries up too quickly and leaves a mess,  and does not flow and penetrate the joints.  3M has a aerosol grease for lubricating any kind of hinge (hood, doors, latches, etc).  With the red nozzle extension you can apply with surgical accuracy.  It sprays out thin and wet, flows to those tight areas,  then coagulates,  any overspray is easy to wipe up.  Should be able to find the 3M (preferred) or other at most part stores.
