Subject: Doing 6cyl 3speed manual to C4 Auto Conversion - Need Help!
Hey guys, The '65 Vert that I just picked up has an original 3-speed Tranny which works well, but I'm going to pull it and swap it out for a C4 Auto. I've already picked up the linkage for the C4- Auto, the correct Automatic pedal and bracket and C4 Shifter assembly and now I just need to find a donor tranny and bellhousing.
I was wondering, Is the driveshaft for the '65-'66 6cyl manual car the same for the '65-'66 6cyl C4 Auto car??
Will the tranny mounts be the same?? I know the carbs are different as well.
Is there anything that I am missing?
If anyone has a '65-'68 Beater mustang in the Central Florida area that has a good C4 or just a C4 by itself.. Shoot me a PM or e-mail...I'm interested in a donor C4 tranny.
I did one of these conversions 20 years ago...but that was a long time ago...
Thanks.

The M/T driveshaft is smaller diameter, the one
used on the C-4 is the same as a V8.
The rear end ratio on a M/T car is 3.20 where
the ratio on a A/T car is 2.80
The trans mount I believe is the same.
Starter is different and you will need the spacer
plate and flex plate.
I have a extra C-4 but I'm in the Cincinnati area.
