Title: Alternator Bracket

On the bottom bracket that connects to the water pump on a 65 289, should there be a lock washer or is it just a bolt that holds it on?  Also would this bolt be unpainted or painted black as well?

None of the bolts on a 260/289 engine thru 1966 received a lockwasher. That particular bolt is a grade 5, regular head that is 5 inches long (300958-S8). Some of the other bolts are "place" bolts which have a head design to act a lock. Those are the ones with the six "cuts" on the head.
