I have sets of NOS MUSTANG letters for my 66 GT. They are the later style stick on letters...I know, not really correct for the year but I hear so many stories about the repro letters not lining up. I have a pair of NOS fenders for the car and am starting to get the car ready for paint. I need to decide to use the stick on letters and not drill holes in the fenders or should I try a set of repros and drill holes in the fenders for them???

IMHO, it would be best to use the hole pattern from a known factory GT fender. This will give you the correct starting point, which you can them determine what works best.

Here is what I just did after I couldn't get the repros to line up. I already had the holes in place but if I had the chance I would have filled over them. I then cut the studs off the back of the repro letters and used 3M™ Plastic and Emblem Adhesive, 08061 to glue them in place. Can you remove the sticky pad from the stick on letters so you dont have to cut off the studs? Without the holes it might be difficult to get the spacing right, but its better then a hole visible next to the emblem.
