I've got an Oct '65 SJ built '66 Fastback and trying to find the source of said screws. The 66 assembly manual doesn't show this type and wondered if someone can say for certain these are '65 screws, used up to a certain date.
I have observed some Shelbys with these screws but I don't know their #s.
Bottom line, I need a couple of these screws and if someone can point me to a source, that'll be great.
Thanks!

I too have a San Jose Oct 65 build 66 Fastback and my screws are different than yours, plus there is a finish washer used for each screw. What you need are (4 each) 34968-S, a no 6 washer finish washer, and 53016-S13, a 8-15X1/2 oval head trim screw. Both are avaiable from AMK products. They are shown in the 1966 Mustang Body Assembly Manual, AM0011 page 42. I highly recomend you get a set of the assembly manuals.

So were the early 65 screws and latch different, because mine is totally different:

The 1965 Fastback seat back latch is different than early 1966 latches in that the 65 style included a bumper. Sometime in early 1966, February or March, the bumper style re-appeared and continued thru at least 1968, with the bumper style also on the left hand side. The knobs were also different between 1965 and 1966, as well as the four screws, 53008-S13 for 65, and 53016-S13 for 66, the difference being thread pitch and length. They were not painted.

I also noticed that the latch is actually raised where the screw goes into it on mine...
