Title: Water Pump Bolt Kit Paint
Post by: ChrisV289 on September 13, 2012, 10:49:24 PM
So I finally opened up my new water pump bolt kit from AMK for a 65 289 w/ alt and AC.  Directions are nice and explain which bolts go where...My questions is it says that all fasteners are painted with the engine except for 3 bolts that are mainly on the passenger side of the car....which I assume hold the AC brackets to the pump....Is that correct?  Would they have not been painted?

There is one at the very top of the pump that isn't painted that would be where the dog ear is for the AC....too high for the alternator....

There is a bolt at just about 12:00 o'clock that is unpainted that goes through the A/C bracket.  There is also an unpainted bolt at about 6:30, near the water hose connection, that goes through the adjustment slot in the A/C idler.  I think the 3rd one goes where the alternator adjuster bracket attaches to the water pump (as mentioned earlier).
