I was looking at a thread regarding firewall detailing and noticed a picture posted showing the heater wire going thru a hole above the heater motor. In the 69 ford service manual it shows the wire being routed along the top of the blower motor and behind the foam seal and in a notch in the metal blower housing. The photos I have from disassembly show it going thru the hole in the firewall. Is this possibly an error in the manual.

All the none air heater blower motor wires I have seen go through a hole with a small grommet. The way you are describing in the manual sounds like a good way for the wire to become shorted against the metal housing over time. My guess the manual is showing an illustration and not a actual photo.

I would agree, this was not a photo it was a drawing in the ford repair manual. I have done some looking on the forum and everything I'm seeing is thru the firewall.
Thank you,
