Title: Rally Pac 1966 GT
Post by: Jays66gt on March 18, 2012, 10:26:57 AM
According to what I can find the high profile came first, and was designed to go with the Falcon style gauges of the early Mustang. The low profile came later, to match the 5-gauge cluster.  Below is what I have.  I guess it's wrong for a 1966?

That's a good looking interior, however you're correct in that the rally pac that's in your car is for a 1965.

The eyelids should also be painted the black wrinkle finish and not be chrome on the outside...

The chrome appears to be a factory finish ( some pits and scratches ).  Was this Rally Pac off perhaps another Ford product?  I cannot see a stamping or part number anywhere on it.

It does look good in the car though.

Chrome is the original finish, but only on the inner portion of the eyebrows (around the clock and tach).  Black wrinkle paint was applied to the outer portion of the eyebrow to match the rest of the housing.

Well mine is chrome all around.  Is it possible that this was a dealer installed Rally Pac?  Or is the fact that the bezel is chrome throwing a wrench into the whole shebang?

The part was chromed then wrinkle painted black on the outside to match the main body. the inside part was left chrome. I am sure someone at some time stripped the wrinkle finish off.
