Title: 1972 Mach 1 Tape stripe location
Post by: ceswert on October 17, 2011, 12:13:39 AM
Were original tape stripes on a 1972 Mach 1 applied to stop at the edge of the door or did the tape wrap around the door edge slightly?

They wrapped around about 3/8 - 1/2.  Chuck

I'm glad to see some activity on the 71-73 cars. I was beginning to think it was just me and Brian.  Chuck

I have always appreciated 71-73 Mustang models. In addition to my '72 Q code I own a '73 Mustang convertible Q code which is awaiting restoration and a recently purchased '71 J code that is currently being restored. All of my cars are survivors, retaining much original metal and parts. Really appreciate your site!

Since I am referenced in this email only thought it was appropriate to chime in.  Agreed that this can be a lonely fraternity at times, but we always welcome new pledges (without hazeing).  Ceswert, I noted your earlier post on the primer color.  I grew up in AMC's home town.  I am not aware of any military division closure around that time, but that was probably through the Jeep division headquartered in Toledo.  I do know Ford and AMC used alot of similiar suppliers.  One few people know of is the intermittent wiper governor and switch.  These are direct interchanges between ford and AMC that AMC continued on production over several years after ford.

Chuck and I tend to troll this forum often as we are trying to maintain as much orginality for this generation.  Keep in touch with us if you have any questions.  Chuck is a great resource and he has a great car to show for it.  Mine is just going in for paint this weekend.  I am giving him at most 12 months to get it done.  My goal is concourse driven by 2014 for the 50th.
