Title: Original Drive shaft
Post by: Stangly on July 06, 2011, 02:01:14 PM
Here are some photos of the drive shaft I removed from my car.  The original shaft was stolen from the car back in 1980 and was replaced by my father in-law with the one in the photos below.  Can anyone tell me if this  is in fact a drive shaft for a 69 mustang or from some other ford (cougar, falcon, etc).  It also has some bad dents in it that will need to be repaired so I would like verify if it is the correct one for the car before I spend any money restoring it.

Thank you,
David,

You mention that its for a 69 (that your looking for) but we need to know the application - automatic, 3 speed or 4 speed and what engine ?

The weights indicate that its an original that has not been reblanced or the tube replaced - just need to fingure out the application

Checked and did not have a clear picture of both ends on an original car.

I would have expected a tube in tube design for the automatic application but can not be sure. A white paint mark does not show up for your application.

All I have to offer at the moment - sorry

Jeff,

Thank you for taking the time to check.  My build sheet is really tough to read, I can't make out the last few color codes.  Is it typical that all 69 Dearborn 302 2V automatics would have the same color stripes?

David,

Jeff,

I held the build sheet up to the light and the colors read as follows:
LBDGYL and the last blank (24) which is labeled code is B.  Not sure what all these colors translate to hopefully this may shed some light.  I would like to strangle the guy who stoled the original one.

David,

That would decode out to Light Blue, Dark Green & Yellow
