Title: Driveshaft restoration when you know your car doesn't have the original tube?

I'm trying to come up with a plan for my driveshaft.

I know it was re-tubed in 1981 because the DS fell out of the car on the way home from my Senior Prom in 1981. :-[ :'(

Are V-8 cars different? Are C4 cars different than manuals?

I have so many parts to do on this car, I was thinking of getting a DS from Dead Nuts On, but they obviously have V-8 stuff.

Mine is a 200 with a C4.

What marking would there be from the correct time period (my car is October 64 scheduled build), Dearborn car?

Driveshafts and driveshaft color codes vary depending on motor size and type of transmission.

The first thing to do would be find a similar car with a build sheet or check the MPC to see if you can identify what should be there

You might reach out to Jeremy Turner at Maple Hill Resto.  I am pretty sure he has or had a concours early 6 cylinder car and might know a thing or two about this.

I'v been researching and have found out that the 6-Cyl cars had different u-joints, 1100 series. If there's nothing special about the tube, I'm thinking I can just re tube the one I have because I'm 99% sure that was the only thing done in the 81 and the ends are the original ends.
Are there any good sources for tubes that can be made to "look right"?
