Hopefully you are aware that not every gas tank had the stencil. At the very least not visible.

I would suggest not putting it perfectly centered in the middle of the bottom . At least if you want it to look realistic and not contrived.

Since they were applied to the metal before forming if your going to use a stencil away from compound curves forms in the metal as it was bent and formed in the the gas tank shape unless you want to heat and change the shape of the stencil. It can be done if your looking for a challenge
There were also a number of different suppliers and in turn stamp design. These were all covered in an earlier thread on the subject

That stencil in the photo posted is completely wrong if you ask me (wrong sizing, font, and information)....not sure making this for every day consumption is something you want to do. There is obviously the date code issue, but also the CQSK number will vary from year to year as well. Plus like Jeff said other supplier besides USS.
