I bought a set of re pop door panels for my 69 Mach 1. I was getting ready to install the pull cups when I noticed that there is no internal plastic frame like on the originals, just foam. Without that frame being in there is nothing to rivet the cup to. I'm curious as to how others have handled this problem. I can't think of anything that will hold up over time to keep them secured. Any suggestions? As always, thanks in advance.

Vendor of panel please.

I think it was TMI. The shop that did my interior actually purchased them for me.

I tagged a buddy with the Mustang Market panels and he says the attachment points are close, not perfect.
I have a pair of the MM deluxe panels for my 65 and they are much nicer than the TMIs I have on my 67 deluxe. I'm going to sell my new, non-installed TMIs and buy the MM for my 67.
If I remember I'll try and take a pic of the back of his next time I'm there. I have an interest since my 70 car needs new Dlx panels too.

Thanks. I was surprised to find that it was just foam. It's definitely not what I expected for the price. What sucks is most of the panels that I know of only come in white or black and I need dark red. I know they can be painted to match but it's a pain and I'm close to being done with this car that hates me.

The MM panel I just inspected was for a 70. I understand the 69 cup is a different size but should attach the same way.
The backboard is plastic not fiberboard

On my new panels it's just foam on fiberboard. I'm attaching pictures of the new one and the old original one with the plastic frame.

I was wrong. There is a piece of metal buried in the foam where the pull cup tab gets riveted. I take back almost all of the bad things that that I've thought about these TMI panels. I haven't tried to install them yet, so I don't know if the clips are in the right spots. For now, my only gripe is that the vinyl covered foam dents easily and stays that way.
