Was the master cylinder and booster bolted together before painting, did master cylinder cover have a certain plating before painting. Is paint SGB. Car is 67 SJ 10-21-66 coupe with S code. Thanks

Yes, they were first bolted before painting with semi-gloss black. There were plugs in the fitting holes that left a small halo around the fitting once installed. IMHO the cap was plated with Zinc dichromate. Some think the master cylinder was removed or loosened on big block cars during the engine installation.

Just to add so there is no confusion with others reading interested in this subject- the plating under the paint or bottom side of lid changed from the zinc dichromate (gold) to zinc silver sometime in later 1968 production.

I use Kylon semi gloss black but there are many other viable alternatives. Don't overthink it. Many products can fall within the typical range . Factory parts can range in sheen from one batch to the next . Many things can effect sheen like humidity, temperature ,different paint batch etc. etc.
