Title: Cleaning the clear lens at gauge cluster
Post by: MWM on May 27, 2011, 04:52:16 PM
Hello!
I am in the process of restoring my five gauge cluster and want to know what to use to clean and polish the clear plastic lens?  Also, it has a scratches from an over aggressive cleaning, is there a way to get some or all of the swirls out?
thanks!

i have used meguiars plastic cleaner and polish with good success. if the scratches are very deep you may  have to replace the lens to get the desired result.

Semi-chrome polish or similar product will remove allot of damage I use it for headlights (newer plastic ones) on newer cars. Or you can always just purchase a headlight repair/refinsihing kit for the newer cars. Run about $20 and come with an attachment for your home drill

Thanks everyone for your suggestions!  I used the meguiars product WITHOUT the drill attachment, but by hand using the cloth supplied.  Most of the scratches and pitting came out and it is very clear!  I am very happy with the results.

3M finessit II swirl remover polish works well when used with micro fiber cloth.  Chuck
