Hello all
My 68 Plain Jane coupe is at the body shop, expecting a fresh coat of Wimbledon White on Thursday.
My question is regarding the grill inserts for the hood-mounted turn signals (Ford part # 16B870). I have both complete hood turn signal assemblies but they are from a black car. What color should the grill inserts be painted? I believe the grill inserts should be painted to match the exterior color, in this case Wimbledon White. I have looked in the un-restored pictures and can see the underside of the turn signals and the grills appear to match the car color. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any pics of the topside of the hood turn signals. My paint guy thinks they should be black to provide contrast. I was hoping to get confirmation from you experts on the correct paint scheme. Thanks. Dave

I used the search feature of this forum to come up with this ("hood turn signal" and 1968 only selected) -

They should be body color.

What about hoods/cars with the optional Hood Black Out option where they added two stripes from the cowl forward?
Might be worth a discussion give someone in the future may heard this thread and have that option.

I thought of the black out hood option when I replied but he said his car was a plain jane coupe.

BTW we are a couple of week from painting our 67 barn find convertible Wimbledon white. It will have a black top and maybe a black pen stripe. I like that color, good luck with your project.
