Title: Original Tie Rods 67/68/69/70
Post by: Anghelrestorations on May 10, 2011, 07:21:26 PM
For those of you looking to complete your front suspension with original concourse correct pieces, I have a limited number of sets of original tie rods that will fit either 67/68/69 Mustangs (small suspension) or 70 Mustangs and Boss 302 and 429 (large suspension).  This is the tie rods with the adjusting sleeve included and these are all assembly line units taken off cars over the years and restored back to original condition.
With or without paint dabs depending on your preference.

67/68/69:
Outer C7ZZ-3A130-A
Inner C7ZZ-3A131-A
$450 per set

70:
Outer DOOZ-3A130-B
Inner DOOZ-3A-131-B
$550 per set

I recently cleaned up my original tie rods, they look good and feel tight.  I am completely puzzled on how to apply some new grease, was wondering if you would share your trick.

There actually is no reason to add grease to these tie rods, since they are sealed units.  If you cut one apart you will actually see that they have a plastic insert that acts like a lubricant - so there is no need to grease them.  In many ways it makes the units more reliable to be sealed as they would not dry out that easy, or allow contaminents to enter into the tie rods.  Many cars today are the same way with not having any zerk fittings on suspension components.

That is great news because I was hoping to use my originals.  I looked at the tie rod ends and can see the plastic insert you referenced.  On another note I was sent a private message and was referred to you for rebuilding control arms.  Is this something you are still doing?

Yes, I am doing control arms and most of the front end suspension these days plus alot of plating work on various pieces...other than chrome.  Let me know what you need and send me some pictures and we can discuss.

Adding some photos on here for a set of the larger suspension Boss/70 Mustang tie rods that I just finished - for reference.  I have a few more sets left for those that need them.

I would need to look around and see what I have left.  Most of the suspension requests I get are related to the 67-70 components.  Or if you have an original set I can always see what they look like and refinish yours as an alternative.  Send me an email if interested.  azscj428@gmail.com
