Title: 70 Sport Mirror
Post by: rcgt350 on November 07, 2023, 12:37:49 PM
LH 70? Sport Mirror, the remote function activates the mirror ok, but when you stop activating, the mirror section doesn?t stay firm, if you touch it lightly it flops around until you remote control it again, I?ve looked through it for some way to get rid of the slack, anyone know if it?s even possible, the car was only driven for four years, 42K miles

The Chrome adjusting knob, are they pressed in or threaded to the 90 degree Housing?

Thanks

The chrome adjusting knob is threaded in.

I have seen a repair (sorry I can find it) that involves beefing up the pivot point to reduce the floppiness but its drastic surgery in dismantling the whole mirror.  It might be worth checking the wires as they do break and you might have lost one and that's why it's not holding position.
