Forgive my ignorance but what is this molding for. I opened a sealed ford packaged part marked as C9ZZ-7651564-A and it contained a Fomoco part with C9ZB-7651564-B on it.

The MPC description says Weather stripping, Folding Top Side Rail Center, right side. The number 76 in the part number indicates its for a convertible. Fits 69 and 70. Numbers on the part are likely engineering numbers. It would appear to be the rubber seal above the door on the convertible top. Hope that helps.

Yes, so it is a roof weather stripping for a 69-70 convertable. But is it for a mustang? I recognize that 69 Mustang parts are identified by C9ZZ. Why is this part identified as C9ZB ? Is it for another model ford convertable?

Its for a 69 Mustang (Shelby also) Didn't look to see if the part application does extend into 70 production of the Mustang or if they changed something.
As far as the number remember that you have part numbers and engineering numbers as the example in the OP's original post. The prefix - C9ZZ on the package - C9ZB (in this case) on the part.
