There have been some threads discussing carpet options, but they are a few years old. I'm looking at buying carpet now, and am wondering if there is new information.
Does anyone have recent experience with ACC? There were significant complaints in the past. Has it gotten any better (or worse)?
With the mass backed version, do you still go with underlayment or just depend on the mass backing?
For a 65's underlayment, do you recommend the thin stuff such as NPD's 011172-7A (ACC product), thicker stuff such as NPD's PSP101, Ssnake-Oyl's product?

Yes you still use the factory underlayment. If the mass backing in lumpy or such you may need to trim it to make things work right. I've had to in the past
As for the thin underlayment separate from the backing on the carpet given when your car was built and at what plant (San Jose) its very likely that your car originally used the floor underlayment that did not include a jut layer so it was much thinner than the three layer underlayment used other years and plants. Like that shown below

Yes, that thin stuff is what I recall from over 40 years ago. Per NPD, the ACC stuff is approximately 1/8" thick. Does that sound right?

Might have been slightly thicker than that originally. Heat and compression may have reduced originals and in turn influenced the reproduction but think the choice would be fine especially considering with the addition of the Mass Back carpet choice

That combination makes sense. Thanks Jeff!
