Title: Fastback door window v. Coupe door window bracket differences
Post by: hertz350 on March 31, 2022, 11:45:42 PM
Here is a picture of a coupe door glass on top of a fastback door glass. There is a difference is the size and shape of the metal that holds the glass. Can you use the coupe metal glass holder for the fastback? I see NPD lists one bracket channel to use on both coupe and fastback

According to the "1966 Mustang Body Assembly Manual", there is no difference between the three body styles in the door windows except the glass assemblies, C5ZB-6321400-1, C5ZB-6521400-1, and C5ZB-7621400-1. All other hardware and unique Mustang designed parts are either a C4ZB- or C5ZB- (except the plugs in the trailing edge of the door).
Note: the glass assemblies are all 1965 assemblies.
I strongly recommend you get a set of "1966 Mustang Assembly Manuals", plus the "64-65 Chassi"s and "64-65 Weld and Sealant" - plus the "1966 Shelby Unique Parts Manual" (all published by Jim Osborn Reproductions).

Thanks, but that doesn't answer my question about whether he metal channels shown are interchangeable? Can I use the coupe glass channel in a fastback?

There's no difference.  Might be seeing an early vs. late bottom piece.  Do they both have long channels for the window regulator guides or does one have it broken into 2 sections?

They both have the long window regulator guide channel.
