Title: Removing stainless trim for door windows. Tips?
Post by: hertz350 on March 29, 2022, 06:49:07 PM
I would like to know what suggestions members have on removing the top of door window stainless trim for 65/66. It looks like Ford San Jose used a rubber seal and maybe glue.

So the question is how to remove it an replace it on a new piece of door glass?

I have not seen the rubber seal listed in the manuals or in after market parts catalogs.

Thanks!

Door glass use glass tape.  To remove the glass from the stainless trim, a block of wood an a dead blow hammer works.

Try NPD 214A10-1 (1/16 in thk) or 214A10-2A (3/64 in thk) strips. I did my vent windows but I don't remember which I used.
There's also NPD 3M8641 Adhesive and 997-5 Applicator.

Thanks, Jim. I did see that in the NPD catalog last night. I will try using that rubber.

That's the glass tape I was referring to... there should be no adhesive used.  You'll find dum-dum/caulk at the top front to fill in.
