Pulled my diff assembly today.
When I was cleaning up the paint, grease and dirt I uncovered the original red oxide and what appears to be a factory marking. Unfortunately there were two markings side by side but one quickly disappeared from the degreaser. It looked like a seven but not sure.
The other mark looks like a squiggle or check mark or?
Any ideas?
It's a 9" in a Dec 64 Dearborn K code coupe.

Typical area where I've found (in 65 production and 9" rearends) a number. Either single or double digits
Thanks for adding another one to the collection

Thanks Jeff. I'd like to add the # back after paint. I think I'll go with 67. Unfortunately I haven't found anything on the housing.

Might want to reconsider if your making up a number. This may identify a worker and "67" would indicate allot of them.
Highest two digit number I've got is "13" with most being single digit marks which would support IMHO a worker or inspector number.
Just something to think about

I was being facetious but it didn't come through ;)
Seriously, the first mark is a squiggle which I can't interpret as anything other than maybe a 6, and the 2nd mark which has now vanished I am pretty sure was a 7. Not sure I can work with this.
