Title: Parking/Turn housing finish
Post by: Bossbill on March 08, 2021, 09:27:59 PM
How bright is the finish on this cast housing, as outlined in yellow below?
It appears to be cast pot metal or perhaps a zinc casting.
When new is it supposed to be bright? Somewhat grainy?
I took out the light socket so I can refinish it.
You don't see a lot of it when it's all together.

The body is bare pot metal which is mainly zinc.

Ok, since this thing is a cast pot metal shouldn't it be toward the shinier end of the scale? Right now it has the look of dull lead. Should I plate it?

NOS bodies have more of a egg shell finish to the metal. Don't plate it . I would tumble it after bead blasting for a more original new finish.
