Title: Dearborn Brake Booster Mounting Nuts
Post by: 1970 Snake on January 09, 2021, 04:48:16 PM
Can anyone advise what the correct attachment method that was used for the bottom stud on the brake booster on the inside of the firewall. I see there are only 4 red nuts but 5 studs and from what I can see in my disassembly picture and what I removed from the car was a notched washer like used on the bolts for mounting the steering box, and a red speed nut clip, like the green ones used to hold the rear brake drums.

Excellent yes thanks Jeff, the first picture is exactly what I was looking for and is how mine originally was, I'm not sure where that other clip I mentioned came from in my bag of disassembly booster and brake paddle mounting parts. Here's a pic of my install.

Jeff s  in your bottom photo the clutch rod firewall boot is installed wrong pointing inside the car instead of pointing outward in the engine bay area and i have never seen that before so is that an unrestored car if so somebody screwed up on the assembly line .

Correct and good catch. Since we were focusing on the brake connection that got overlooked. I have added a warning and not to that post. Would have originally cropped it out had I seen it before posting  ::)

Like many unrestored cars there is often maintenance needs over the years that can alter the car.
