I just took out my drivers side front bucket seat. I found two shims on the right rear and two shims on the left rear. None on the front. I understand that both the front and back studs should have shims to stop the carpet from interfering with the seat track?

It is a early late issue in 67 production. Early style tracks have separate shims and later had the shims made into the track. It sounds like you have the earlier style tracks with the separate shims that someone doubled up in the rear for some reason.

Maybe when the carpet got replaced the owner though he could tilt the seats a bit more upright (rather than adjusting them correctly) by doubling the shims to the rear. Just a WAG :)

I have owned six Mustangs 1966-1969 and I didn't know there was a height adjustment either. How does it work?

Its not "height adjustment" its the angle of the back part of the seat that can be adjusted on the earlier seats.
The yellow arrow shows the adjuster and the orange blue arrow the pad it rests against. There are limitations

That "orange" arrow looks greenish-blue to me...

Rather than "height" adjustment, I think that the better term here would be the "rake" adjustment. Doing this not to show off my command of the language, it is to help someone searching for the term later. That person might just be me 8)

Thanks - fixed. Must have adding an arrow to another pictures in Photoshop at the time

Agreed its not the height of the seat - believe the reader/poster just misread my description and use of "angle"

Got it, thanks. I knew of that adjustment.
