Looks like some driveshaft shop in the past rebuilt yours and added the round balancing washers before painting it black. Normally the driveshaft balance weights are rectangular and attached with a spot weld at each end. There would be no paint except the identification stripes and sometimes a hand painted letter that is the last letter in the part number for further identification. Hopefully someone has photos of an original V8 / automatic driveshaft from 1965 that you can mimic.
