For a 69 428 Mustang, on the Lower Control Arm Eccentric Caster Camber Adjustment Bolt, what plating or finish did it have on it?

Have always looked darker than bare steel in person to me. Most likely darkened from being harder metal or phosphated. How ever you choose to get to the right look

+1 bare steel originally .Restorers many times do a light phosphate which doesn't darken too much but will better resist rust when used along with one of the anti rust products like boe shield.
