Organizing parts of my car and can’t recall with certainty what it is
PS hose protector perhaps?
-
Rubber hose, split length wise?
If so, outer Bumper arm
-
If spongy foam then most likely a portion of a PS hose protector used on 69/70. There is more to it typically. Daniel carpenter makes it and NPD sells it .https://www.npdlink.com/product/sleeve-power-steering-hose-protector/147048

Thanks for your insights guys.
I have the split rubber hoses in place on the bumper arms so it's not one of those.
Spongey material anyway, and it could have been cut by someone, but if that happened it's odd it wasn't gotten rid of entirely instead of bothering to cut it.

Correct name, part number or supplier of the " split rubber hoses in place on the bumper arms " ? New to me and don't have them on my car. Thanks, Brian

It is referred to as the front bumper arm insulator .C7ZB17B947-B is the 67/68 .I didn't look up other years numbers. Ford is the supplier. ;) You can find illustrations in the Body assemblyline manual on the page that shows the bumper and attaching parts for the year in question. The material is similar to a heater hose but different texture ,thickness and diameter. It is closer to the appearance if not exact as the hose used on the fastback quarter box drain hose 65-68.

As Bob stated, the Ford nomenclature is "insulator - front bumper arm"
By the time that the 1975 "final" version of the 1965-1972 MPC was published, there were no 17B947 parts serviced for any year Mustang.
I found the diagram where the 67-68 insulator is shown, but for the 69-70 (see P-6664 attached) this part is not called out.

Thank you for the info and very clear explanation/description. Never seen these an any car and not on my 65 or 69. Brian

3-1/2” long

Have seen a couple of different shapes and types of material used on unrestored cars. Might be multiple suppliers and plant differences again.
Like heater hoses the number and placement of ribs may identify supplier
Some seem more rubber like and other more foam like.
Round and triangle shaped ones also. Will find pictures and post

The ' insulators ' are in this illustration taken from the 69 Shop Manual.
-
These rubbers are often missing in a restoration or in the wrong position as there is a weld spot about 4'' from bumper end of the rod and these rubbers are supposed to stay between the weld and end of rod to protect valance panel from rubbing or hitting the rod and chipping the paint off the valance panel.

NPD sells the insulator kit but for 67-68 Mustang and Cougar only ? https://www.npdlink.com/product/insulator-kit-front-bumper-bracket-4/102992

I don't think that keeps someone from using it on other years if they choose to. The insulator hose doesn't look like the original hose unfortunately.
-
Yes but was it used/installed on the 65-66 and 69-70 cars ?

A sleeve was not used on 65-66 or 71-73

Though I would post a few pictures of some different versions/providers
9R1315xx Looks more of the foam type - Thicker walls
(http://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/gallery/14/6-060920161941.jpeg)
9F2169xx Given the fit may be one of the triangle shaped versions I mentioned earlier. Harder rubber look with ID ribs in the product
(http://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/gallery/14/6-060920161921.jpeg)
9F01F1588xx Another from Dearborn. Again looks to be thinner and harder rubber
(http://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/gallery/14/6-060920161850.jpeg)
Poor shot of the small tack weld/bead Ed referred to in his last response
(http://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/gallery/14/6-060920162512.jpeg)
Has to be a few out in the garage or some where just not sure where they might be
Since they were mentioned guess its ok to add a picture of the inner front bumper arm bumper from 9F1413xx

Got that resolved in short order. Thank you. Brian

So for a '69-'70, does this insulator belong on the 17766/67 arm or on the 17754/55 tubular bracket? Seems like two completely different items.
The drawings posted above show both? Which is correct?
-
Ok, so Jeff's photos explain it. We were typing at the same time...
Now I need a pair of each as mine are missing...

Not that it makes a bid difference IMO since we know what part it is visually but for the "numbers people",
17754/55 shown in reply #6 Reply #10 appears to be a 67-7 illustration
