Post by: Ralf on May 28, 2020, 04:12:56 AM
Hello,
Does anyone has a pic to show up where this rubber bumper is placed?

Great thx.

On the metal dash panel is a lip that sticks out at the top of the ash tray opening, this usually goes in one of the holes there.

Ralf, I'll assume you are asking about the ashtray the one in the dash and not the optional one in the lower console.

The manual (first picture) shows the 359422-S bumper (item B) on what I would call the face of receptacle assembly (item 1)

The reality (second picture) from my 67 shows a hole in the same plane as the upper mounting screw (item A) 52721-S8

I don't recall removing this before the restoration so would ask if anyone else has a picture of the bumper, installed, that would be appreciated.

I should add that on the dash lip, the hole on the left (with the screw) is large enough to let the screw pass through and grab the receptacle assy.  For the hole on the right, there is no receptacle material behind it, so it was clearly not meant for a fastener, so a bumper does make sense for that location.

I'm wondering now if the diagram is different from reality due to it being revised for a modified design, possibly for 1968.

Taken today in our Unrestored 67 coupe (signature car).  Note the bumper's black rub mark on the ashtray door.  Ashtray was not used other than keeping coins and small bits and pieces.  To my knowledge it's the original piece:

Excellent.  Thanks Deuce.   The one listed for NPD does not have the same shape.  Could simply have been a “replaced by” part as Ford did and does.

Took a look and could not find any pictures showing this detail. Not one that usually would be taken. Just wanted you to know I looked

Jeff I figured as much, which is why I polled the audience at large  ;)   I too had few pictures with the ashtray open, and for those that were this detail was out of view.

It is said a lot, but your contributions are greatly appreciated

Now to find a source for the part.  I did not start that process yet.  Some others (hint, hint) may get to it first.  Fastener your seatbelts.

Me neither.

The reason why I was asking ;-)

Thanks to the others for their help. Now I'm a bit further.

I see that NPD has it.  Listed for truck applications.  The shape looks right, compared to the picture of originals.

Looks like, yes. But dimensions to be checked.
