Title: 65-66 front crossmember / support
Post by: Hipo giddyup on April 26, 2019, 10:42:29 AM
I recently picked up a very nice front crossmember at a local swap meet (the support that goes under the oilpan to both frame rails.). It could possibly be NOS but my question pertains to a "dent" (for a lack of better words) on one side of the crossmember. This does not appear to have been done by a jack as it is on part of the angle tube and the paint over this area is near perfect leading me to believe it was this was from the factory. I have had two other guys tell me they have seen this before and thought it was "dented" to clear PS components??? Any input would be appreciated. (I will submit a pic later today)

The FoMoCo stamp is usually seen on later cars, maybe starting in 67/68.

Didn't realize that. Thanks Charles!

Can you post a picture showing the entire front crossmember profile . Laying on it's side for example on the floor. That way it will be easy to determine which one you have 65/66 or 67-70 instead of guessing from the limited picture views.

Great. Now you have me second guessing which I restored and painted.

Here are the two different versions.

The one on the left is 65/66 and the one on the right is 67-70.

Sigh ...
Wrong shelf, wrong crossmember.
Must be one of the few items on which I didn't hang a plastic tag.

But this 65-66 crossmember did have the square FoMoCo. And it's real pretty.
