I suspect this is a date code can anyone tell me what it says?
-
Looks allot like a couple I have. Believe it was made in 70 but not sure of all the coding at the moment - haven't studied that dating pattern yet but once we do I'll add it to the date coding article. Pattern changed over the years and goes back at least into the pre Mustang period. Have some others from around the same time as yours and 408 appears on others so the last four are likely the date code. In your example 1570. On a Motorcraft a couple of years later it shows 4082572

from a discussion I had with Bob Perkins many moons ago over the oil filter stamps from one of my unrestored cars from his collection it was his belief this particular filter in the image provide in post number 1 is 5th month of 1970.
whether his opinion has changed on that over the years im not sure but I was able purchase at a latter date a 9th month 66 and 5th month of 66 from him which satisfied my thirst for original filters

I appreciate the input. I have decided the filter is best used on my car, so it is now in service. I had considered painting it blue like an assembly line filter, but in the end just used it as is.
