Hiya fellers
im trying to figure out if i have the correct drive shaft in my wifes 66. the one that is in it has the numbers (that i can read) ?0078-4s is this number any help?
-
That’s just the suppliers number. Should be 19078. There are several discussions and threads on it along with pics of people’s restored drive shafts in the members section. Did you soak it to see the stripe colors?

Thanks Chris, i will look up the pics. i bet the number i could make as ?0078 out is really the 19078

That's the stock number of the tube's manufacturer and not a Ford part number. It was marked about every 8 feet or so, and as a result some drive shafts have the stock number marking, others do not.

As mentioned the numbers will not help determine if the driveline is correct for your car. Just the steel tubing stocking number from the providing company. Date might eliminate it from being original to your car thought it might still fit and be made correct (after removing the numbers) for your car. Length and other features will help determine if its the right style/version.
