Title: 1966 steering column question
Post by: CCP on November 05, 2018, 04:15:44 PM
Installing the steering column tube in this '66 convertible, but my disassembly pictures are a little unclear (my own fault).
The u shaped bracket that supports the bottom of  the column has a small tab that aligns with a slot in the column tube. Does this tab go towards the driver or the firewall? I should have taken a more detailed picture.
Also, how close should the grommet at the end of the steering column tube be to the steering box? Is there a measurement? Again I should have taken a more detailed photo and measurement.
Thanks guys, any help would be greatly appreciated.   :-[

Once you adjust the column up or down to get the gap right between the top of the column and the installed steering wheel the seal and end of the tube will be where it ends up
