I had one NOS ford and one original. The passenger side appears to be in great condition. No visible teeth wear, rollers are in great condition. However, the grease used got hard. I have used solvent and freed them up for the most part.
I am curious if the assist spring in the regulator is prone to failure, or should I not be concerned and re-lubricate the regulator and re-install the ford unit.
Opinions/ experiences would be helpful. ( See photo below of gear)

Picure of gear.

It is the keeper in the clutch that most often fails and the window will not stay in place. If lubricated and aligned correctly it should take very little effort to roll up and down.
FYI the 67 has different splines end on the knob shaft than a 68.

Marty, Do you know what the threads are for the handles? I am probably going to have to chase them. The ones supplied by AMK don't seem smooth, and I didn't want to take a chance on cross-threading. I hate taking things apart two or three times to get it right.

I do not know for sure but would guess 8-32. Might check the library for hardware, might give the thread.

I've never taken one of these apart. I gather it's inside the hat with the 3 tubular rivets? Any pics?

Moving on, I just noticed that one of the large center rivets right at the center connecting the extension to the winder has a date code stamped into the end. My March car has one regulator 7A and another 7B.
Just some more data to add to the pool.
