Title: 1966 fuel line crimp style clamps
Post by: edwardgt350 on June 27, 2018, 11:40:10 PM
we are finding the crimp style clamps dont fully tighten the fuel line hoses. the clamps seem too big for the hose. we are using the special pliers these clamps require.
i bought the crimp clamps from the usual suppliers. they are marked 157.
what clamps are people using and what is the size?

Try AMK products for clamps. They carry a couple of different sizes that are used on 64-73 Mustangs.
Here's my two crimping tools. The one with the black handle is from Snap-On Tools, Blue Point YA3080 (it can be used with a torque wrench), the red handle is K-D No 424.

That I don't know. The flat spot on all of the ones I have is just flat. For a fuel hose, you want a grip range of 0.520-0.620 inch, nominal dia of 19/32 inch (per AMK).

Original clamps had a flat spot on top - NO dimple.

Agree, the dimple style are aftermarket.

NOS/correct style clamps can usually be bought from some of the obsolete parts vendors.

I used the fuel line kit from NPD that included the crimps with the fuel lines. Not sure who supplies those. Used a set of cv boot pliers like the red handled set pictured above. No issues since install a few years ago.
